Suppose the score is 100-96 with one free throw left. If the leader makes it and time expires, the margin grows from four to five and the total rises from 196 to 197. Both the -4.5 spread and over 196.5 now win.
A fourth-quarter points total counts only points scored in that quarter. Subtract the combined score after three quarters from the combined score at the end of four.
Check whether the market specifies regulation or includes overtime. Keep the end-of-fourth score for regulation picks and use the final score for markets that include overtime.
